Farmhouse
on an Orchard

| Creating
a large addition for this turn of the century Victorian without uprooting
its traditional charm was a nice challenge for this project. This
Victorian home had plenty of formal rooms and old country cozy spaces but
they needed a nice great room for a growing teenage son's new found social
life. The solution was derived straight from the owners' wish
list -- a new large room, a small breakfast area, a new entrance and mud
room to replace an odd entrance through the formal dining area and a place
with lots of sun. |
|
| An addition to the rear of the
home literally spanning the entire length of the house was the solution.
The created bonus was a partial second level space above the Great Room
creating a new Master Bedroom Suite which rivals today's new home
requirements such as a large walk in closet and a private Master Bathroom.
Using the existing home as a guide for the exterior materials real wood
planking, a combination stone and brick fireplace, true divided lite windows
and a metal roof complete the inconspicuous addition to this old charmer. |
